The Glendronach 12 Year

Updated: Mar 26, 2019

Matured 12 years in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks

The smell on this one is full of dried fruit, red fruits, fig, plum, raisin, fruit cake and gingerbread.

The taste is baked spices, dried red fruits, vanilla, sherry, brown sugar, carmalized sugars.

The finish is quite long, warming with dry red fruit and a lot of spice and cloves.

Glendronach 12 is a great value. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a full blown sherry bomb while trying to stay on a budget….or as much of a budget in today’s insane single malt prices. I grabbed this one for $62 but have seen it on sale at times I the low $50’s Given the current prices of fully matured sherried whiskies I have to say this is a great value. I also have a bottle of the older (2013) bottled Glendronach 12’s that could possibly be 18yrs old if there is any truth to this article https://wordsofwhisky.com/glendronach-is-a-lot-older-than-the-label-says/

One day I will do a side by side comparison but I can tell you just from looking at the two bottles the 2013 is much darker. It should be an interesting post when that time comes.

Overall Grade: B
