Flaviar Advent Calendar (2022) - The Depths of Whiskey. Whiskey #7. 46% abv.
The smell is corn husk, vanilla, light brown sugar, and menthol.
The taste is very hot for 46%. After adding some water I get walnut, oak, vanilla, sour cherries, and some dill spice sourdough bread thing. The dried red fruit is there but it's overly sour.
The finish is actually long. I get mostly sour-dried fruits. The sourness just clings to your tongue and overstays it welcome.
This sounds like it is really interesting but it just doesn't really work for me. The sourness of this one just dominates the entire experience. If you like Belgian sour beers, you may really enjoy this one. I’ve not experienced a whisky this sour before. Personally, I’d say it’s not bad but it’s not for me.
