Flaviar Advent Calendar (2022) - The Depths of Whiskey. Whiskey #21. Product of USA, 43% abv.
The smell is beautiful rye spice. Menthol, dill, sage, clove, fresh cut mint, and spearmint leaves. Perhaps there are other things going on but the fresh grassy rye is all I can smell and it’s great.
The taste is a wonderful blast of mint, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, white pepper, rye bread, and baking spice.
The finish is long. Typical rye finish, with that wonderful dill spice, menthol, and vanilla but mostly I feel like the cinnamon and dill are hanging around to close it out.
This is a really rye-dominated whisky. I am happy to keep this around on the shelves BUT the problem is I am not sure what this exactly is. We noticed one discrepancy earlier on vile19. The abv was wrong. Now this vile #21 show an incorrect abv and this is almost definitely a Rye whisky and not a “Bourbon” as stated in the app. Whatever Rye this is, it is good.
